The Fintry Trust Library of Ancient Wisdom contains over 4,000 volumes of a religio-philosophical nature. It includes works representing the great world religions and religious thinkers. It has an extensive collection of Thomas Taylor translations of Greek philosophers, works in the Platonic and Neo-Platonic tradition and on the mystics.
Among its holdings are a notable collection of books relating to Welsh history, language and culture, and the Celtic tradition.
Subscribers to the Fintry Trust are automatically entitled to use the library, but will
need to complete a library user’s form at the time of the first visit. Proof of identity
and address will be required.
Library users who are not subscribers to the Trust are asked to pay £3 per session, or
are invited to take out a subscription £7 per annum.
The library is open on Wednesday afternoons from 13.00 - 17.00, and at other times by arrangement. The library is also open during study programme events. Please click for details of Reading Weekends.
The Library holds a particular collection of books, and readers are strongly advised to contact the Secretary at Fintry to check that it contains books they wish to read beforehand.
Library users may request assistance with research enquiries. Photocopying is available within copyright regulations at a charge of 5p per copy. Coffee/tea is available.
